Correct preparation for Shower Pan Hot Mopping is as follows:

1. Solid wood blocking, In between studs, around the base of the shower, 12 inches minimum in height

2. Dam height must be a minimum of 4 1/2 inches

3. A two-part hot mop drain is required

4. Bottom flange of shower pan drain MUST BE FLUSH WITH THE FLOOR

5. If the shower has a seat / bench or tub ledge, it must be covered with plywood on the top and front and sides. Blocking must extend 4 inches above the seat.

Shower Pan Installation Process:

Shower pans are pre-sloped 1/4 inch per foot, with mortar mix cement.  Each shower pan is installed with three layers of 15 lb, perforated felt which is HOT MOPPED between each layer.  Fiberglass mesh is installed in all corners and at all paper seams.  After which a top coat of tar is added.
